As we travel around Iceland with almost no free time to write full blog posts we decided to start a sort of diary that is going to be updated every other day (more or less..) and split into parts. This kind of post is meant to be simple and the goal is to allow our readers to know what we’ve been up to! Expect much more detailed posts once we return home in a couple of weeks time.
Iceland travel diaries part 1 starts now.
It’s been two days since we arrived in Iceland and so far so good. People are friendly and it didn’t rain.. much 🙂
First day was spent entirely in the capital Reykjavík visiting the city, including its major highlights: waterfront with the modern Harpa building, the tall modern church Hallgrímskirkja and the fine downtown streets with many shops and restaurants. For dinner, we tried some Icelandic dishes like the famous meat soup – a heavy one!
Day 2 was a long one. We left Reykjavík early in the morning to visit the “golden circle”. This is the name given to three of the most famous sights in Iceland: Þingvellir national park, Geysir and Gullfoss. After this, we drove into the highlands where we’re at the moment.

I just returned from Iceland. It was definitely interesting scenery. Being from FL, the cooler temperatures were wonderful. However, being in flip flops and walking on sand – I wish I went 15 yrs. ago. Walking in hiking boots was treacherous for me. I made it and am happy I had the opportunity to go. It’s definitely a bucket list adventure but either hike a lot before you go or travel there before you turn 70 and used to tough terrain
Your photos and commentary were terrific.
Glad you enjoyed it despite the rough terrain!
Thank you 🙂
